Hiking and cycling routes around Drawsko Pomorskie

The black hiking trail “Drawskich grodzisk wczesnośredniowiecznych” starts and ends in Drawsko Pomorskie and is 67 km long. Another hiking route is the blue trail “im. I Warszawskiej Dywizji Kawalerii”: over 52 km, it follows the Wał Pomorski fortification line, starting in Iłowiec and ending in Drawsko Pomorskie. The two trails therefore end in different places; their distances and routes offer hikers different options for planning their trips.

The black cycling trail “Rzeka Brzeźnicka Węgorza – wodospady” starts and ends at Drawsko Pomorskie railway station. The 39 km route takes 2–3 hours. Those who would rather combine a longer hiking route with scenic landscapes will find a different option in the “Szlak Jezior Drawskich”: it loops around Drawsko Pomorskie through moraine hills and river valleys, and along a continuous chain of lakes. The route can also be cycled. Use the suggested detours where sections are inaccessible or difficult to access.

A kayaking route is another option: the “im. Ks. Kardynała Karola Wojtyły” route is 47.5 km long within the municipality of Drawsko Pomorskie. This gives you walking, cycling and water routes to consider when planning your trip, though they do not share the same course or distance.

The municipality’s landscape is shaped by a distinctive system of glacial channels. Within Drawsko Pomorskie, Fryderyk Chopin City Park adds a historic place to this natural setting. It was established in 1875 on a bend in the right bank of the Drawa River. Its location on the river bend and its year of establishment distinguish the park as an urban green space from the hiking trails through the surrounding countryside.

Architectural history and keepsakes

The Late Gothic Church of the Resurrection in Drawsko Pomorskie was built at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. Its tower is 75 metres high. Bestiary decorations adorn the pointed-arch side portals, another distinctive feature of the building. Visitors interested in historic architecture can appreciate the church’s construction period, tower and portal design as separate features.

The town’s history is also represented by keepsakes in the Salt Storehouse: since 2018, the building has housed objects relating to the history of Drawsko Pomorskie. The village of Jankowo is also in the municipality. It is home to the granary built in 1906 and designed by Walter Gropius. It is the only building of the former manor complex to have been preserved unchanged.

National Road 20 and railway line 385 run through the town and municipality of Drawsko Pomorskie. Road 20 connects Stargard and Szczecinek; railway line 385 connects Runowo Pomorskie and Szczecinek. Both a road connection and a railway line are therefore available for your journey.
