Janowo: Hotels and Accommodations

The Gmina Janowo is located on the edge of the Baltic lake region. Its local features include clean air, forests, and a rich variety of flora and fauna.

Culture

The urban fabric of Janowo is listed in the cultural heritage register of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Elsewhere in the municipality, a 19th-century manor house in Komorowo is also listed as a heritage site.

A 19th-century wooden windmill is listed on the outskirts of the village.

History

In 1421, Janowo was granted town rights by Duke Janusz I of Masovia; in 1869, it lost them after Janowo’s participation in the January Uprising.

The Orzyc River is part of Janowo’s historical surroundings. During the interwar period, it marked the border between Poland and Germany.
