Słonecznik: Church and Cycling Routes

Słonecznik is located near Morąg in Ostróda County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The old sidebar path contains “Loetzen,” which is not the village’s actual municipality or county affiliation. The technical legacy address remains unchanged; for travel planning, the relevant features are the Church of the Holy Cross, preserved wooden houses and the described cycling routes in the Morąg area.

Church and historic ensemble

The present-day parish Church of the Holy Cross was built in 1735; its tower was added in 1836. Beside the church stands a wooden bell tower from the mid-19th century, with two bells. A rectory from the second half of the 19th century is also part of the surroundings. The former cemetery was around the church; burials took place there until the end of the 19th century. These buildings and traces form a coherent historic ensemble, but the building history does not establish that the interior can always be visited.

The centre also features a preserved memorial to the community members who fell in the First World War. It commemorates local residents and should not be confused with a general regional museum.
