Cycling: two different route descriptions
Two green-marked cycling routes pass through Lipińskie. The Giżycko–Wydminy–Miłki–Giżycko circular route is 61 kilometres long and passes through the town. The PTTK listing gives this distance and also points out a different official figure of 71 kilometres. The distances therefore refer to different listings: 61 kilometres describes the PTTK circular route, while 71 kilometres is the alternative official figure. The 61 kilometres describe the entire circular route, not a section starting from Lipińskie. Check the current signage and trail conditions before setting out.

Another description of a green-marked route, dated 2007–2009 and attributed to the Giżycko Tourist Information Centre, goes from Miłki via Lipińskie towards Szczepanki and Wydminy. It is marked “41 + 20 km”. Unlike the Giżycko circular route, this description locates the route starting from Miłki. When comparing them, first consider the route format: a circular route on the one hand, and a route from Miłki towards Szczepanki and Wydminy on the other. The descriptions therefore answer different questions for tour planning; the distance notation alone does not describe the route.
Founding and historical names
Lipińskie was founded in 1487 under Magdeburg Law. Historical names for the town include Lipiensken and Lindenwiese; Lindenwiese was used from 1928 to 1945. These are different historical reference points: 1487 marks the founding, while 1928 to 1945 refers to the period when the name Lindenwiese was used. Lipiensken adds another historical place name to the story. Anyone exploring the town can distinguish the founding date from the later forms of its name. The founding and the history of the town’s names provide different points of reference for Lipińskie.
Historical traces in the surrounding area
Nearby, on the fields between Lipińskie and Lipowy Dwór, ruins of Second World War bunkers can be seen to the right of the road. They are part of the so-called Lötzen Fortification Zone. This adds a distinct connection to the history of the Second World War to Lipińskie’s founding and place-name history. For those interested in cultural history, the focus thus shifts from the history of the town’s name to military traces in the surrounding area.
An abandoned Masurian cemetery lies about 100 metres beyond the last buildings in Lipińskie. The approximate distance is measured from the last buildings: the cemetery is located in relation to the edge of the town, while the bunker ruins are located in relation to the road and their position between Lipińskie and Lipowy Dwór. These two historic sites in the surrounding area therefore have different points of reference. Cycling and local history offer two different perspectives on Lipińskie: the green routes pass through the town, while the historic traces also extend into the surrounding area.
