Nature and outdoor activities in Timmersdala
Timmersdalavallen is a specific starting point for a walk: at Tymers motionsstuga, you can begin along the illuminated path north of Timmersdala. An information board describes the area and its history. This makes the route a way to combine time outdoors with a glimpse into the local surroundings. Timmersdalavallen also has a sports field and a ski slope. The walk, sports field, and ski slope offer different ways to spend time outdoors.
If you enjoy walking, you can consider the hiking areas as one reason to choose Timmersdala. The walk at Tymers motionsstuga offers a specific point of reference: it starts on the illuminated path, and the information board adds details about the area and its history. The sports field and ski slope offer a different focus from the walk. This lets you choose the day's activity according to your interests, without combining all the options into a single outing.
Church village, railway settlement, and historic buildings
Timmersdala developed as a railway settlement alongside an older church village. The village is mentioned in written sources dating from 1415; passenger rail service through Timmersdala was discontinued in 1932. These dates relate to different chapters in the area's history: 1415 marks the village's written mention, while 1932 marks the end of passenger rail service.
The parish church stands on a medieval church site, occupies a prominent position, and is visible across the surrounding area. The former village street can also be recognized in today's streetscape: it is now called Kyrkvägen. Its route, along with the surrounding trees and buildings, including the church, forms a valuable historic streetscape. The church and street thus show two connected but distinct aspects of the area: the prominent church site and the route of the former village street with its surroundings.
Another historic site is Stommen, a very well-preserved old farmstead. Its residential building dates from 1856; the farmstead was established around the turn of the 20th century. The mission house in Timmersdala dates from 1898. It was partly altered later and is one of the few surviving older community halls in the area; its significance is local-historical. Stommen and the mission house thus offer different points of interest: one is a farmstead with its residential building, the other an older community hall that forms part of the area's history.
Bathing area and retro café
For a trip to the water, Lången lies about two kilometers south of Timmersdala and has a bathing area. The approximate distance and southerly direction offer a simple guide for this side trip. The retro café at Gulf Timmersdala offers a different kind of experience: its interior is styled after the 1950s, with a checkered floor, red leather sofas, and teak furniture.
A described bus route to the café uses line 613 from Skövde Resecentrum to the Timmersdala stop; from there, it is about 200 meters on foot. Check current departures before setting off. This gives you different interests to consider when planning your trip: a walk and local history, a bathing area south of the village, or the café's retro atmosphere.
