Sollebrunn brings together distinct natural and cultural features: wooded rocky ridges, a striking church and historic traces in the landscape. Whether you want to shape your stay around nature, architectural history or a longer circular route, you’ll find several options here. Erska kyrka and the Stora Gräfsnäsrundan are both connected with Sollebrunn; the surrounding landscapes and historic sites also form part of the destination.

Rocky Ridges and Trails

Erska Lunde is a wooded rocky ridge with glacial erratics on the plain near Sollebrunn. The site also contains an Iron Age burial ground. Here, a landform and an archaeological connection exist side by side, although they tell different stories: the ridge shapes the natural character of the area, while the burial ground points to an earlier period.

Tosseberget offers a different landscape. There, distinctive, steep rocky ridges rise from the plain. Pine trees predominate, while spruce is mainly found on the northern side. Several trails cross Tosseberget. By comparison, Erska Lunde is described as a wooded rocky ridge with glacial erratics; the information about the tree species and steep ridges refers to Tosseberget. If you’re interested in landscapes and trails, you can use these differences to guide your choice of what to explore.

Erska kyrka and Historic Traces

Erska kyrka stands on a hill just outside Sollebrunn, near graves from the Iron Age and Viking Age. It was built in 1885–1886 as a hexagonal central church, based on plans by Emil Viktor Langlet. Furnishings from its predecessor church have also been preserved, including an old pulpit and a baptismal font. The church’s construction history, design and surviving furnishings each give it a distinct cultural and historical connection.

Further historic connections can be found in Erska and north of Sollebrunn. In the 1890s, the Tingshuset was moved to its current location on a hill in Erska, south of Sollebrunn. Just north of the town, in Mellbydalen, well-preserved windmills from the 19th century can be found. Several have been restored and can be seen turning. Check in advance whether the mills will be turning during your stay.

Plan the Stora Gräfsnäsrundan

The Stora Gräfsnäsrundan passes Erska kyrka and is about 40 kilometres long. Gräfsnäs or Sollebrunn can be used as starting points. The route follows cycle paths and quiet paved roads. Between Gräfsnäs and Loo, it follows a firmly compacted gravel path. This means you can take the route’s length, starting point and surface into account when planning, without assuming that the entire route has just one type of surface.

Trail conditions may vary locally; check them before setting out. The approximate distance and possible starting points are also practical details to confirm before departure. The route description lists both Sollebrunn and Gräfsnäs as starting options, not just Sollebrunn. If you include the route in your trip, keep both options in mind as you plan.

Getting Around and Accommodation

The InfoPoint at Sollebrunn’s service office is located in the middle of the market square and offers visitors information and tips on activities during their stay. Opening hours vary, so check them in advance if you plan to visit the InfoPoint. Sollebrunns skola is part of the local cultural centre. It includes a library, a youth centre, a sports field and sports halls.

As an accommodation option in town, Sollebrunns Gästgiveri has two double rooms and one family room. The toilet and shower are shared. Since availability may change, confirm it before booking.
