Seglora brings together forest trails and lakes with a local history whose continuity dates back to the Middle Ages. When planning, you can focus on a short loop, a longer hike or historic buildings. The differences between the trails are useful to know: the Seglora–Skärsjön loop is about 1.6 kilometres long, while the Seglora–Hunghults gamla kyrkväg is 6.5 kilometres. Culture enthusiasts also have a dedicated starting point at Seglora kyrka.

Hiking trails for different day plans

The approximately 1.6-kilometre Seglora–Skärsjön hiking loop runs east of Seglora along small forest trails around Skärsjön. It is fairly flat, making it a short loop to contrast with longer hiking plans. The trail combines forest terrain and lakeshore in a manageable distance.

The green Viskadalen hiking trail offers a different surface: it runs along gravel paths near Viskadalens folkhögskola in Seglora and is also fairly flat. Compared with the loop around Skärsjön, the main differences are the surroundings and surface described: gravel near the college here, small forest trails around a lake there.

At 6.5 kilometres, the Seglora–Hunghults gamla kyrkväg is considerably longer than the Skärsjön loop. The distance helps you choose how much time to allow, without implying anything about the surface or terrain. If you would rather hike the Kulturleden, you can park at Seglora kyrka and start and finish your trip there. Check the parking conditions before you travel.

Lakes, river and nature nearby

Seglora has several lakes; the largest is Stora Hålsjön. Two names are especially useful for orientation: the hiking loop goes around Skärsjön, while Stora Hålsjön is the name of the village’s largest lake. The Viskan winds through Seglora and invites you to go canoeing. Seglora also has two rocks for climbing. The nature-based options therefore range from walks and lakes to river and rock.

Nearby is the Tranhult nature reserve, between Viskafors and Seglora and not far from Viskadalens folkhögskola. There is a car park and an information board there. Its location and these landmarks give the reserve a distinct place alongside the trails directly associated with the name Seglora.

Church, architectural heritage and local traditions

Seglora kyrka stands 300 metres northeast of the site of the old church. The historical continuity of the church and its parish village dates back to the Middle Ages. The distance between the present church site and the former church site distinguishes these two places in the local history.

At Seglora Hembygdsgården, Lundastugan is one of the few ridge-pole cottages still preserved in the area. The vicarage there is considered a valuable historic building and was probably built in 1793. Together, the two buildings offer different insights into the local heritage: Lundastugan is distinguished by its rare architectural form, while the vicarage has an explicitly uncertain date.

Crafts are also part of the visitor experience: Hantverkshörnan at Seglora Hembygdsgården sells, among other things, rag rugs and table runners made in the weaving room. Seglora’s local heritage association also organises walks to various destinations in the area. Its recurring events include a Midsummer celebration with dancing and games around the maypole. This brings together an interest in buildings and crafts with a glimpse of local customs and community activities.
