Discover Sätila on Lake Lygnern
Accommodation in Sätila
Sätila lies on the northeastern shore of Lake Lygnern. The area offers several practical starting points when choosing a destination: marked hiking trails from Lygnevi, activities on the water, Sätila Sand bathing beach and cultural history. If you are looking for accommodation, you can compare these different options with your own travel plans.
Hiking trails and places to visit
Four marked hiking trails start in Lygnevi. The Kullanäs Trail starts at Lygnevi sports field, while the Ösjö Trail both starts and ends in Lygnevi. If you prefer a trail that starts and ends in the same place, you can take this difference into account when planning. Kullanäs Udde is a popular excursion destination, with a wind shelter and barbecue area.
Of the four marked hiking trails from Lygnevi, only Flohultsleden is suitable for strollers. Check current trail conditions before setting out. The Klätten Loop has a separate condition: it may be suitable for strollers in its entirety if the return route from Buarås follows Fjäråsvägen. Nearby, at Flohult beach, there is a small car park and a barbecue area.
Beach and activities on the water
Sätila Sand is a bathing beach with a long stretch of sand. It also has a 170-metre oak footbridge. From Sätila Sand, you can reach Ramhultafallet by hiking trail; the Ramhulta Tour also leads to this waterfall and the Marks nature reserve.
Visitors can rent canoes, kayaks, fishing kayaks and stand-up paddleboards (SUP) at Camp Lygnevi. There is an obstacle course on the beach at Camp Lygnevi, and the camp also has a nine-hole course. Check current rental arrangements and the status of the facilities before your trip.
The lake also has a connection to shipping. Between 1889 and 1924, the steamship ISA operated on Lake Lygnern, sailing from Sätila to Fjärås. ISA af Lygnern is an electrically powered excursion and cruise boat that combines guided tours with food and drink. The service is seasonal; check whether tours run during your travel dates.
Church and local market
Sätila Church dates back to the Middle Ages. Its oldest ceiling paintings are from the 1730s. Because of the many angels depicted, the church is sometimes called the “Church of Angels.” These three details offer different points of interest for a visit: the church’s long history, the dated paintings and its distinctive nickname.
The market in Sätila has been held for several years and provides an opportunity to sell local products. If you would like to include the market in your travel plans, check for a specific current date. Together, the market and church add local tradition and cultural history to the area’s trails and water activities.
