Holsljunga offers several travel highlights: the long sandy beach by the swimming lake, cycling routes and historic sites. When choosing what to focus on during your stay, specific differences matter—for example, shallow water, a cycling route along a former railway embankment, and a route that becomes hillier in Holsljunga.

Swimming Lake and Holsjön

The swimming lake near Holsljunga has a long sandy beach and shallow water. At Holsjön in Holsljunga, a paved path leads from the parking lot to the jetty; it is suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Large grassy areas, shade trees and barbecue areas add to the amenities by the lake. There is also an adapted toilet; sections of the jetty slope down into the water.

Holsljunga Camping is right by Lake Holsjön. In summer, boats can be rented at Holsljunga Camping. If you plan to rent a boat, check seasonal availability before your trip.

The Holsljunga fishing area covers twelve bodies of water, including lakes and the Torestorpsån river. The larger lakes offer fishing for pike, perch and zander. Current permit prices and rules are published by iFiske.

Cycling and Walking Routes

Pyttebaneleden follows the former railway embankment between Holsljunga and Överlida as a cycling route. The eight-kilometre section from Holsljunga to Överlida runs from Gamla Järnvägen road in Holsljunga to the Överlida campsite. The route passes Gräne Gruva.

On Holsljungaturen, the route becomes hillier in Holsljunga.

At Gräne Gruva, Toppleden is 1.8 kilometres long and offers views of Lake Lilla Hallången. Check the route details locally before setting out. The circular walking trails at Bredgårds Näset have barbecue areas and a barbecue shelter.

Church, Mining and Village History

Holsljunga kyrka was built in 1834 and inaugurated in 1835. Its baptismal font dates from the 12th century. The colour scheme from the most recent restoration was created by textile artist Elisabet Brenner, who lived in Holsljunga; the restoration took place in 1995.

Gräne Gruva also has a clearly dated mining history. The feldspar mine dates from the 19th century. Mica and feldspar were extracted there from 1899 to 1932 and exported mainly to Germany. Gräne Gruva is located between Lilla Hallången and Holsjön. The open pit measures approximately 20 by 15 metres, and its rock walls are around 20 metres high. The feldspar was used mainly in the porcelain industry.

Högelycke is now used as the village’s local heritage centre. Högelycke hembygdsstuga is housed in a croft dating from the second half of the 18th century, which originally belonged to the Fällhult farm. In the garden of the Högelycke cottage is an old water pipe that once carried water from a forest spring to the dye works by the lake. At Predikosten Jacob Otto Hoof, there are signs, a parking lot and a footpath.
