HÃ¥lta between Nature Reserve and Church History

The HÃ¥lta Nature Reserve has two hiking trails: the red trail is 1.5 kilometers long and the blue trail is 2.5 kilometers long.

Other local destinations include Hålta, Skara, Falköping, Tanum, Borås, Tjörn, Dals-Ed and Trollhättan.

Nature

The Hålta Nature Reserve lies directly south of Hålta Church on the road between Kungälv and Marstrand. At the center of the area is a larger ridge that transitions in the north into flatter meadows, grazing land and marshland.

The vegetation includes large to very large oaks with abundant moss and lichen growth, probably naturally established beech forest on a north-facing slope, and pines on rocky ground. The area also contains a stone cist, a suspected Stone Age settlement, two stone settings, an upright Iron Age stone and a Bronze Age burial mound.

Buses run regularly; a bus stop and a parking lot are located at HÃ¥lta Church. The nature reserve includes a fire pit, an information board, public transport access, a parking lot, a picnic area and a trail.

History

HÃ¥lta Church was built in the Middle Ages between 1100 and 1250 in the Romanesque style. It was extended to the east in the mid-18th century; sections of the walls from the original church remain in the western part of the nave.

The church contains a 13th-century soapstone baptismal font, an early 17th-century pulpit, two medieval church bells, a third bell from the mid-20th century, and an altarpiece made in 1672 by the sculptor Hans Swant.

The churchyard of HÃ¥lta is enclosed by a dry-laid grey stone wall and contains mature planted deciduous trees, including linden and chestnut trees. Entrances are located to the east, south and west; a grid of gravel paths runs through the grass-covered burial plots.

Hålta annexgård was formerly the vicarage estate and the residence of the vicar's widow; its oldest parts date from the 18th century. The school complex in the church vicinity has oldest parts dating from the late 19th century and was expanded in several construction phases and adapted to its church surroundings.

Gullbringa

The Gullbringa Nature Reserve lies entirely within the Gullbringa estate. It is a forest and cultural landscape with steep valley slopes and extensive stands of beech forest. Sixteen red-listed species have been found there on beech and oak trees.

Gullbringa's pay-and-play golf course is open to everyone; neither a golf proficiency certificate nor a golf ID is required. HÃ¥lta IK's public events include a Midsummer celebration that attracts up to 2,000 visitors.

The Gullbringa estate is of considerable cultural-historical value.
