The Indalsälven delta lies 1.5 kilometres southwest of the Torsboda area. It is a nature reserve, a Natura 2000 site and designated as being of national interest for nature conservation. For travellers who want to include protected landscapes in their choice of destination, this offers a specific connection to nature.

Waterways and nature themes

There is an information point for the public and interested visitors in the Torsboda Nord area. It provides information about the area and an overview of the work taking place there. Alongside the landscape, the area’s development is therefore another topic visitors can follow. Anyone interested in the work in the area will find a specific point of interest here, in addition to the nature and route themes.

Two small streams in the Torsboda Nord area form the source streams of the Torsbodabäcken. It flows through Torsboda into the Indalsälven, which then empties into the Klingerfjärden. The course of the water thus runs from the source streams through the locality to a named fjärd. Travellers who take waterways into account when planning their trip can consider this sequence a specific feature of the area.

Hundreds of Brudsporre orchids bloom on Torsbodaängen every year. In June 2023, a credible sighting of the rare Mnemosyne butterfly was made in the area around Torsboda. The time references differ: the orchids bloom every year, while the butterfly sighting is dated to a specific month and year.

A description from 2019 also reports a hay meadow established in Torsboda and maintained with a scythe. This adds a specific form of meadow management to the landscape themes, alongside species and waterways.

Routes with different destinations

The Skeppshamnsleden runs from the E4 near Torsboda to the very tip of Åstön and the archipelago coast. In its tourism programme, the Municipality of Timrå describes it as a good example of how visitor destinations can be brought together through collaboration; the Y is described as a natural hub. The route indicates the geographical direction, while the municipal assessment adds a perspective on visitor destinations and collaboration.

A cross-country ski trail runs from Söråker along the railway and under the E4 to Lappstegestugan, west of Hässjö. Lappstegestugan is about two kilometres north of Torsboda, on the road to Hässjö kyrka. The trail’s starting point, route and destination are therefore specified; the cabin’s approximate location in relation to Torsboda is also given. If you are planning to use the trail, check its current status in advance.

The routes lead to different points of interest: the Skeppshamnsleden runs to Åstön and the archipelago coast, while the ski trail ends at Lappstegestugan, west of Hässjö. This comparison can help you choose the route direction that suits your plans.
