Walking Trails and Navigation

Two walking trails are 2.2 and 3.6 kilometers long, respectively, and are rated Blue and Red for difficulty. The difference in length is 1.4 kilometers; in addition to distance, the color ratings provide another point of comparison. Trail conditions can change, so check the current situation before setting out.

A 2.5-kilometer illuminated loop runs directly by the Brovalla sports field. The lights are switched on manually. If you take this loop, plan to turn on the lights by hand. By length, the 2.5-kilometer Brovalla loop falls between the other two walking trails.

The walking trails are accessible by bus, and parking is available at the grocery store. This gives you a specific option for arriving by bus and another for arriving by car. If you are coming from the north on the E4, turn left at the large intersection in Älandsbro onto Ramsåsvägen, signposted for Ramsås, then head south past the residential area to the Älandsån.

River Nature and Views

Freshwater pearl mussels (Margaritifera margaritifera) are found in the Älandsån. This means the river can be appreciated not only as a point of reference for navigating the trails, but also for a specific natural feature: it is home to this mussel species.

Near Älandsbro, Uvberget offers sweeping views over Älandsfjärden. At nearby Trappberget, the view looks out over the Älandsån and its valley. If you are choosing between the landscapes, Uvberget offers a fjärden view, while Trappberget offers views of the river and valley.

Ravens can be spotted on the slopes of Uvberget, and there are boulder caves east of the summit. These natural features add to the viewpoint’s appeal beyond its view over Älandsfjärden.

Swimming Area and Local History

If you would like to include a swimming destination in your plans, consider Finsvikens badplats: it is a small inland swimming area with a sandy bottom. Nearby, Säbrå Church is a local historical landmark. It was built following the Russian raids of 1721, adding a specific historical point of interest alongside nature and swimming.

Älandsbro also has a branch of Härnösand Public Library. It adds a local public facility to the area’s attractions and offers another connection to everyday life in the community, alongside the landscape and activities.
