Tierp: Nature, Culture and Active Days
Accommodation in Tierp
A stay in Tierp can take many different forms: if you’re looking to spend time by the water, you can choose between a canoe route on the Tämnarån and a path through a wetland. There’s also architecture and art, as well as sports and leisure facilities. When deciding where to go and looking for accommodation, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on: would you like your day to be shaped by an outdoor excursion, a cultural landmark or an active leisure activity?
Out and about on the water
The Tierp–Strömsberg section of the canoe route on the Tämnarån is 8 km long and calm. The route is suitable for beginners, families with children and school groups. The launch point for this section is at the bridge in Skämsta, where parking is available. This gives you both a specific route section and a named starting point to help plan your canoe trip.
By contrast, Banvallen in TämnarÅdalen offers a walk alongside a wetland and along a boardwalk to the Tämnarån. If you prefer exploring on foot, you’ll find a nature experience here, with the river as the destination. The canoe trip and walk offer different experiences: on the Tämnarån, it’s a peaceful stretch on the water; at Banvallen, it’s a path through the wetland and along the boardwalk.
Culture and architecture in Tierp
Borgenkyrkan dates back to 1976 and combines tradition and modernity in 20th-century Swedish church architecture. For travellers who want to include architecture in their choice of destination, the church offers a clearly dated landmark. Its architectural style adds a glimpse of 20th-century ecclesiastical architecture to the area’s nature and leisure activities.
Art in Tierp can also be found at a specific location: the artwork UTE OCH FLYGER can be seen from Freedners torg. Kulturhuset Möbeln is opposite the station building and 100 steps from the platform. This location provides a helpful reference for travellers who would like to include the cultural centre in their stay.
Leisure and exercise
At Vegavallen in Tierp, Sagostigen is an accessible, exciting and imaginative experience for preschool-aged children. There is also an obstacle course for children right next to it. The two activities offer different experiences: Sagostigen is an imaginative experience, while the course focuses on obstacles. Vegavallen also has an ice rink, football pitches and an athletics facility. Alongside activities for children, there are several clearly defined options for sports and exercise.
At Aspenbadet in Tierp, you can swim and bathe, as well as take part in courses and training sessions. It’s another way to include exercise in your stay, in addition to outdoor activities and the sports facilities at Vegavallen.
Tierp Arena is an outdoor arena for motorsports and major events. It also offers the Risk 2B course, which includes theoretical and practical components, including driving on a slippery surface. This gives travellers interested in motorsport events or a specific driving course another distinct focus to consider when planning their trip.
