There are several reasons to visit Rönninge: nature by Lake Uttran, a bathing area on Uttran, the Rönninge Swimrun and art around town. In the surrounding area are the Garnudden nature reserve and Möllebadet bathing area; artworks can be found at the station and in the centre. This distinction helps you organise your interests for the day: landscapes and trails, a bathing spot in the surrounding area or culture in town. Nature and a bathing area on Uttran
In the surrounding area of Rönninge, the Garnudden nature reserve lies on Lake Uttran. Reeds, cliffs and woodland along the shore shape the landscape. Garnudden can be reached from Rönninge by car, bicycle or on foot, so you can choose how to get there according to your travel plans. A walking and cycling path runs from Rönninge along the shore of Uttran, through Garnudden and on to Möllebadet. This makes the route a direct link between the nature reserve and the bathing area. Möllebadet is in Uttran, in the vicinity of Rönninge, and is the only public bathing area in Salem Municipality. The facilities include jetties and a bathing ramp. When planning your day, it is therefore useful to distinguish between the two: Garnudden is the nature reserve, while Möllebadet is the public bathing area.
The Rönninge Swimrun
The start and finish of the Rönninge Swimrun are at Toredalsvägen 15, by the Bubblan multisport facility. There are red, green and yellow courses, approximately 2.1, 4.3 and 6.0 kilometres long, respectively. The approximate distances make it easy to compare their length: red is the shortest, yellow the longest, with green in between. If you are making the Swimrun the focus of your visit, you can first choose a distance that suits you and plan the rest of your stay around it.
Art and local history
The artworks in Rönninge differ in their locations and design. At the station is the sculptural installation “Handen som gör honnör” (The Saluting Hand), made of painted wood veneer. At the roundabout in the centre stands “Mina paradisfåglar” (My Birds of Paradise), an artwork created by Linda Shamma in 2017 from sheet metal and glass. The two works offer a clear contrast: painted wood veneer at the station and sheet metal and glass at the central roundabout.
Lotusblomman (The Lotus Flower) adds another art location: a mosaic on the brick wall of a residential building in the heart of Rönninge. It is also a greeting to the water lilies in nearby Lake Flaten. Garnudden also has historical significance: the foundations of the former Garnudden croft lie within the nature reserve. Nature and the traces of the former settlement thus stand side by side in the same place.
Getting your bearings
Two other points in different parts of town can also help you find your way: Skönviksparken is near the centre of Rönninge, while Ersboda 4H-gård is in the north-western part of town.
