Flemingsbergsskogen and its landscape

Flemingsbergsskogen is a municipal nature reserve close to the city and a large, continuous forest area between Flemingsberg and Gladökvarn. Its habitats include natural forests, rocky pine forest, wetlands, and nutrient-richer spruce and deciduous forests. The purpose of the reserve is to preserve the continuous natural forest and its protected plant and animal life. The forest thus offers a focus of its own, alongside the art and architecture in the area.

Hiking trails through forest and history

The old Sockenvägen route now runs through the Flemingsberg area as a popular hiking trail through Flemingsbergsskogen, passing Stensättra fornborg, an archaeological site dating from the Iron Age. The hillfort lies south of Flemingsbergsviken and is considered the best-preserved in Huddinge; from there, the view stretches across Orlången.

In the Flemingsberg area, Stenbergsleden runs along gravel roads and paths through rocky pine forest, spruce forest, wetlands and pastureland.

Activities throughout the seasons

A 2.5-kilometer illuminated fitness trail starts at Visättra Sports Center. Check local information about lighting and operating conditions before your visit. A large wooden outdoor gym is also located at the sports center. Its equipment is designed for deadlifts, back extensions, sit-ups, dips, bench presses, shoulder presses, squats, jumping exercises and balance training; the outdoor gym is available year-round. One of the entrances to the Flemingsbergsskogen nature reserve is also at Visättra Sports Center.

In winter, the illuminated Visättra trails in the nature reserve are groomed for cross-country skiing. The meadows beside Visättra Sports Center are prepared for skiing as well. Grooming depends on snow conditions. The options therefore vary by season: the illuminated fitness trail and outdoor gym are different from the cross-country ski trails, which depend on snow.

Finding your way around

Flemingsbergsparken is in central Flemingsberg, between the university area and the Grantorp residential neighborhood. Visättra nature playground is in an open meadow area on a densely forested slope. Both places help orient visitors between the built-up town center and natural areas, without implying any particular itinerary.

For sports and leisure equipment, Fritidsbanken offers free rentals at Ebba Bååts torg 20 in Flemingsberg. Visits are possible during opening hours; check the current hours in advance.
