Hellevad: Hiking Trails, Waterways and Church History
Accommodation in Hellevad
Open expanses, waterways and woodland shape the landscape around Hellevad. If you are considering the area as a travel destination, you can plan around three specific themes: exploring marked trails, enjoying nature between woodland and water, and visiting the church for a touch of history. The trails, church and watermill provide different points of reference for finding your way around the area.

Hiking Trails and Routes Around Hellevad
The Hellevad Rundt project features several marked hiking and running routes in the immediate vicinity of Hellevad. The hiking trails in and around Hellevad are intended for walkers, runners, and people using prams and wheelchairs. When choosing a route, you can take into account both its intended use and its specific length.
The blue route is 5.5 kilometres long and is also suitable for running. The green route is 8 kilometres long and is suitable for cycling. The two routes therefore offer different distances and named activities to help you choose. The green route passes along Vandmøllevej by Hellevad Vandmølle; the mill is a specific landmark along the way.
Woodland, Spring and Waterway
Woodland and water are also features of the landscape around Hellevad, beyond the details of the two routes. The woodland paths near Hellevad pass the old Helligkilde spring. You can follow the stream to the old Hellevad Vandmølle. The Surbæk watercourse has been restored at the mill. The spring, stream and restored watercourse thus provide several clearly identified natural features to explore.
The landscape includes open expanses as well as woodland and waterways. These different features provide a concrete setting for spending time outdoors: you can use the woodland paths, the course of the stream or the marked routes to find your way around. Each of the trails and landscape features mentioned offers its own point of interest.
Hellevad Church
The whitewashed, tiled-roof Hellevad Kirke stands in the meadows west of Hellevad. Inside, the church has a Gothic winged altarpiece from the last quarter of the 15th century. The exterior and the altarpiece connect the church’s setting in the meadows with a precisely dated historical detail.
A visit to Hellevad Kirke can be arranged by appointment on Saturdays and Sundays. Before visiting, check whether an appointment can be arranged.
Places to Spend Time and Practical Information
Gustes Eng in the centre of Hellevad is a recreational area with shelters, a fire pit, seating and an outdoor stage. These features are brought together in one named location, giving you a place to spend time in the centre.
Hellevad Open Air is organised by dedicated volunteers. If you would like to include the festival in your travel plans, check the event dates in advance. On the Hellevad–Hvid route, you can use the toilet block at the cemetery; check the arrangements on site.
