Nävekvarn is best experienced along trails of varying difficulty, through coastal landscapes and with views across Bråviken. Several different hiking experiences are available for active days. The Sörmlandsleden Stage 37 begins with an approximately 1.5-kilometre walk along a road. It then climbs steeply to Fyrberget, a viewpoint overlooking Bråviken. This stage therefore combines a clearly described ascent with a prominent viewpoint.

The Nävekvarnsslingan offers a different route profile. At Nävekvarns klint, the trail climbs and descends steeply; otherwise, it is easy to walk and varied. The trail also passes the ruins of a 14th-century furnace. Those looking for a longer coastal hike can walk along the cliffs on the coast from Nävekvarn. Hiking on the Sörmlandsleden is also possible on the small island of Näset. These examples show different ways of exploring the landscape on foot without forming a single route.

Finding your way between trail and coast

Gula Kvarn is an important point of reference when locating the Sörmlandsleden stages: Stage 36 ends there. There is also a bus stop at Gula Kvarn for buses towards Nyköping. The specific trail route and the connection to public transport thus remain clearly distinguishable, while both details help with orientation in the area.

The harbour area is also among the documented places to spend time in Nävekvarn. Parkbadet is a long-established bathing area in the harbour area, west of the campsite and directly below Folkets Park. The bathing area includes a bathing jetty, swings and a volleyball court. Industrial history and local culture

The history of Nävekvarn is closely connected with Näfveqvarns bruk. The first blast furnace at Näfveqvarns bruk was lit in 1623. In the 1920s, Näfveqvarn became internationally known for its cast-iron products, designed by leading architects and artists of the time. Alongside its natural and coastal experiences, this development gives the locality a clearly recognisable industrial-history theme.

Svalbergsgården, a local-history farm in Nävekvarn dating from the 18th century, offers further insights. A historical walking tour complements this with 29 information boards displaying texts and images by the artist Elisabet Englund. Events for all age groups are held at Nävekvarns Folkets Park. The park is one of Sweden’s oldest and best-preserved folk parks. Thus, historical landmarks, a signposted local history and a venue that is still in use stand side by side in Nävekvarn.
