Mönkeberg’s waterfront is home to three small, family-friendly bathing spots next to a marina with the tiny Juliusturm lighthouse.

The former fuel storage site at the oil pier is considered a waterfront recreational area offering views across Kiel Fjord. There are opportunities for picnicking, sunbathing and taking a quick dip. Due to the limited parking options, arriving by bicycle, bus or ferry is recommended.

The Ölberg and Stangenberg hills are located near Mönkeberg.

Surroundings

The surrounding area of Mönkeberg is home to the “Naval Memorial, Laboe” and the wildlife park.

The wider regional area includes Noer Beach, the Herb Museum and Kleiner Werder.

Getting There

From Kiel, Mönkeberg can be reached by the F1 Fjord Ferry or KVG buses 100 and 101. By car, state road 50 leads directly into the town center.
