Church history in Karwia

The history of Karwia’s church also offers a specific insight into the town. After the war, Maria and Ksawery Wittbrodt, residents of Karwia, donated a 2,754 m² plot of land for the church. The donation was made in 1947 for the present-day church in Karwia. The shell of the building was completed at the end of 1950. This sequence of events, from the post-war land donation to the completion of the building shell, adds a local historical dimension to the nature-related themes.

The church has three bells named “Edmund”, “Jan” and “Antoni”. The names are a specific detail of local history, distinct from the building’s history: while the land donation and building shell relate to the church’s origins, the three names give the bells their own clearly identifiable identities.
