Hel: Hotels and Accommodation

Hel has a Baltic Sea beach; it is considered the beach at the point where the Baltic Sea or Puck Bay surrounds the Hel Peninsula. In the European Best Destinations ranking of Europe's most beautiful beaches in 2022, it took tenth place. In a 2020 European Best Destinations ranking, it was listed among Europe's three safest beaches.

Maritime Heritage

Hel is home to the Museum of Maritime Fisheries (Muzeum Rybołówstwa Morskiego), which presents the city's maritime and Kashubian fishing tradition. The Museum of Coastal Defence in Hel is located on the site of the former German Schleswig-Holstein coastal artillery battery. The Hel Lighthouse is a red-brick lighthouse with an octagonal shape; it stands in the city at the end of the Hel Peninsula.

Cityscape and Promenade

Wiejska Street is a 900-metre-long representative promenade and one of the main streets of Hel. Historic wooden houses from the transition between the 19th and 20th centuries stand along it. There are also restaurants, cafés, ice-cream parlours, stalls and souvenir shops.

Nature and Regional Surroundings

The Hel Seal Sanctuary is part of the University of Gdańsk's Marine Station and carries out activities to protect naturally occurring grey seals.

The wider regional surroundings of Hel include the Muzeum Emigracji and the Akwarium Gdyńskie MIR. Also located in this wider regional area are Rzucewo - Pałac Neogotycki 1840-1845, Lubek, Gdańsk - Centralne Morskie, Kępa Oksywska, Gora Donas and Kępa Pucka. Railway line 213 connects Reda and Hel, while regional road 216 connects Reda with Hel via Władysławowo.
