Piechowice: Hotels and accommodations

The 37-kilometre-long B cycling route runs through Piechowice as part of the Dziemiany–Dywan–Sominy–Trzebuń–Raduń–Jastrzębie–Piechowice–Dziemiany circular route.

Nature and cycling route

Route B passes through pine forests with occasional clearings and meadows; in summer, the air is scented with resin, while heather blooms in autumn. It also passes the then-planned “Lipno i Lipionko” nature reserve, which comprises two overgrown lakes with adjacent peat bogs and wet meadows.

Piechowice lies wholly or partly within Wdzydze Landscape Park. The “Jałowce nad jeziorem Lipno” natural monument comprises seven common junipers (Juniperus communis) measuring 4 to 6 metres in height. A group of seven stately junipers is approximately 100 years old; the largest juniper in this group is about 9 metres tall. The protected Scots pine “Sosna na Czajkowie” stands in Piechowice and is recorded as measuring 16 metres in height, with a trunk circumference of 361 centimetres.

Settlement and history

Today, Piechowice is considered a picturesque, compact settlement complex around the shores of Lake Gogolino. The oldest built-up part developed in a gentle depression in the terrain on the eastern shore of Lake Gogolino. In Wdzydze Landscape Park, the beginnings of the historic settlement are associated with the development of Piechowice from the late 13th century onwards. In connection with Wdzydze Landscape Park, Piechowice is assigned to the ethnographic region of Southern Kashubia.

Culture

Within Wdzydze Landscape Park, Piechowice is one of the villages of outstanding cultural value. The monument to Alojzy Bruski commemorates an officer who was awarded, among other honours, the Virtuti Militari order and the Krzyż Walecznych. The Chapel of Saints Joachim and Anne in Piechowice was built in the 1980s.

In Dziemiany stands a replica of a 19th-century Kashubian house that originally stood in Piechowice and served as the Rolbiecki family’s home; the original was moved to the Kashubian Ethnographic Park in Wdzydze Kiszewskie.

Other places: Nowy Klincz, Szenajda, Grabowo Koscierskie, Raduń, Wielki Klincz, Grabówko, Sobącz, Łubiana.
