Nowa Karczma

In Nowa Karczma, nature and cultural interests can be combined with specific routes. Hiking, Cycling and Nordic Walking Routes

The combined Nowa Karczma–Nowy Barkoczyn hiking and cycling route is 5 km long. It connects the municipality’s administrative and service centre with Nowy Barkoczyn on Lake Barkocińskie. If you would like to include a manageable route in your trip plans, you can consider this route as an option in its own right; it is designated as a hiking and cycling route.

The “Szlak rowerowy im. Józefa Wybickiego” cycling route runs through the municipality of Nowa Karczma. One section of this route, from Lake Łąkie to Będomin, is 12 km long. This means that, in addition to the combined route, there is also a longer, specifically described cycling route within the municipality. The green Stolemowe Nordic Walking Route in the municipality of Nowa Karczma is 13.7 km long and offers another way to plan your stay around a designated route.

Lakes and Protected Nature

The municipality of Nowa Karczma has numerous lakes with a total area of just under 300 ha. There are also six areas belonging to the Natura 2000 European Ecological Network. These features give nature a distinct place in your choice of destination: you can consider Nowa Karczma if lakes and protected areas are among the things you would like to explore during your trip.

Church, Memorial Chapel and Museum

The history of the area includes the “Kościół p.w. św. Antoniego” church: in July 1984, it became a parish church. It is on the right-hand side of the road from Kościerzyna to Nowa Karczma. The memorial chapel in the centre of Nowa Karczma commemorates residents of the municipality who were murdered in 1939. The two sites offer different perspectives: the church is connected with the history of the parish, while the chapel is dedicated to remembering the victims.

In nearby Będomin, the Museum of the National Anthem presents the permanent exhibition “The History of Mazurek Dąbrowski” and the exhibition “Józef Wybicki and His Times”. This means you can also combine a stay in Nowa Karczma with an interest in Polish history and the national anthem.

Planning Your Trip

The municipal timetable lists a circular route on weekdays during the summer holidays, running from Nowa Karczma via Śledziowa Huta, Grabowska Huta and Sztofrowa Huta, and back to Nowa Karczma. The timing is therefore important for planning: the service is specified for weekdays during the summer holidays.
