At beach access No. 7 in Świbno, the designated Gdańsk Świbno bathing area comprises a 100 m stretch of shoreline: 50 m to the right and 50 m to the left of the access point. The area also extends 50 m from the shore into the Zatoka Gdańska. For the 2026 summer season, Świbno was planned as one of nine supervised bathing areas in Gdańsk. For planning the beach day, access point No. 7 is therefore the reference point for the shoreline section and its extension into the bay.
Island landscape between the coast and farmland
Świbno is part of a corridor of loosely developed residential and residential-service buildings along the main traffic route of Wyspa Sobieszewska. This corridor separates the beach, dune, and forest belt from the agriculturally oriented area that occupies most of the southern part of the island. As a result, different landscape themes are directly at the heart of travel planning here: the coast, island trails, and the transition to the open spaces in the south.
Hiking on Wyspa Sobieszewska
The Szlak Wyspy Sobieszewskiej is a 14 km-long, green-marked PTTK hiking trail that runs entirely through the picturesque area of Wyspa Sobieszewska. The green PTTK hiking trail ends in Świbno at the ferry crossing. At the same time, the Szlak Wyspy Sobieszewskiej is part of the international E-9 long-distance hiking trail, the coastal route that runs, among other places, along the Polish coast. The endpoint at the ferry crossing gives the marked trail a fixed geographic reference. The 14 km length of the Szlak Wyspy Sobieszewskiej provides a clearly defined distance for planning a day of hiking. A hiking trail for pedestrians is also designated in the “Mewia Łacha” nature reserve.
Cycling and seasonal ferry service
The Wincenty Pola cycling route reaches the village after 11.5 km from its starting point. From May to October, cyclists can continue their journey along the Mierzeja Wiślana outside Wyspa Sobieszewska by taking the Świbno–Mikoszewo ferry across the Przekop Wisły. For cycling plans, the 11.5 km route marks the distance from the start of the cycling route to Świbno. The crossing continues the journey across the Przekop Wisły to Mikoszewo and then leads onto the Mierzeja Wiślana outside Wyspa Sobieszewska.
Sanctuary and obelisk by the ferry approach
Świbno is home to the Milenijne sanktuarium św. Wojciecha Chrzciciela Gdańska, the Millennium Sanctuary of Saint Adalbert, the Baptist of Gdańsk. On April 20, 1997, the Milenijne Sanktuarium Chrzciciela Gdańska św. Wojciecha was established in the parish in Świbno; the church was given the title “Pomnik Tysiąclecia”. The Pomnik 100-lecia Przekopu Wisły also stands at the approach to the road ferry across the Przekop Wisły. The obelisk is located on the embankment in ul. Boguckiego in Świbno and commemorates the centenary of the Przekop Wisły. The obelisk complements the religious site with a historical connection to the Przekop Wisły.
