Storforsen is located near Vidsel. Älvsbyn Municipality describes it as an important tourist destination. Storforsen is accessible via paths, boardwalks and ramps, including for strollers and wheelchairs. At the entrance to the Storforsen Nature Reserve, there is parking for cars, buses, caravans and motorhomes.

A trail system for mountain biking, trail running and hiking runs along the Piteälven between Storforsen and Brudforsen. Check availability again before your trip. The different uses make the trail network appealing to guests who want to combine their stay with outdoor exercise.

At Glott in the centre of Vidsel, there are two barbecue areas and a barbecue shelter with views of the Piteälven. Vidsel’s bathing area also has a beach volleyball court. Summer and winter activities

The well-marked ski trail in Vidsel offers distances from 800 metres to one Swedish mile and is suitable for skiers of all ages. If you want to include a shorter or longer route in your plans, there is a wide range of distances to choose from. Tourists also use the cross-country ski trail to try skiing. A lit running trail is used in both summer and winter.

There are several snowmobile trails in and around Vidsel. They lead to destinations including Kåbdalis, Älvsbyn and Långträsk. These destinations give an idea of the possible directions of the local trail network.

The playground is another local amenity: a new playground was completed in Vidsel in 2023. Along with the trails and winter sports options, it offers different ways to spend active days, from a visit to the playground to cross-country skiing or snowmobile trails.

Vidsel’s library is located in the school. Vidsel Church was inaugurated on 24 November 1968. Älvsbyn Municipality offers wedding ceremonies there; confirm the arrangements before your trip. These two places complement the nature and leisure options with facilities and local events.
