Geographical location

Göhren is a seaside resort on the Mönchgut peninsula, on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The town has a 270-meter-long pier that was rebuilt in the 1990s.

Göhren is described as Germany’s only Kneipp spa resort directly by the sea. The health therapy is based on water, medicinal plants, exercise, nutrition, and an orderly lifestyle.

History

The Speckbusch burial mound next to Göhren’s church dates from the Bronze Age. The Hessenlager archaeological monument on the road to Lobbe was established as a military camp in 1812.
