Binz: Hotels and Accommodation

Binz is located on the east coast of Rügen between Prorer Wiek Bay and Lake Schmachter See. As the largest seaside resort on the island of Rügen, the town belongs to the Vorpommern-Rügen district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Landscape

The Schmale Heide peninsula stretches north of Binz. To the east and south of the town, the landscape is hilly and reaches elevations of just over 100 metres in the Granitz.

The surrounding area of Binz includes the Erns-Moritz-Arndt Tower, Pulitz Island, Alt Rügen Island, Muglitzer Ort, Bergen, St. Marien, and the palace park. The climbing forest and Fahrenberg are located in the vicinity of Binz.

Culture

The seaside resort's historical development included the construction of the Kurhaus and the Kaiserhof. The beach promenade was built afterwards.

Historical connections

Historical connections included ship services between Stettin, Binz and Sassnitz from 1896 onwards. The Putbus–Binz narrow-gauge railway was built in 1895.
