The village district of Malk is one of the oldest places in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district. A war memorial to those who fell in the First World War stands on the main road through Malk Göhren, dedicated by the municipality of Malk. The early mention and the memorial highlight different aspects of history: the village’s long history and remembrance of those who fell.
For getting around, federal highway 191 runs directly through Malk Göhren, connecting the village with surrounding municipalities and towns.
Waterways and Facilities at the Marina
For boating visitors, Neu Göhren is a useful landmark: the Elde-Müritz Waterway passes through the village district, and a bridge connects the two village districts. At the Neu Göhren Camping marina, at kilometer 11.3 of the Müritz-Elde Waterway between the Malliß and Eldena locks, berthing is available for all types of boats.
Facilities vary by boat type. Low pontoons in a side channel of the Elde are intended for canoes and small boats. There are also 12 berths for vessels up to 16 meters long, as well as electricity and water supply and a mobile fuel station. There is also a parking lot and a boat ramp at the marina. Check current operator information about berths and facilities before your trip.
Neu Göhren campsite has 100 pitches for seasonal and short-term camping and is located on the Lüneburg–Usedom cycling route. Caravans and motorhomes can be rented at the marina. This allows you to weigh two different priorities when planning: the cycling route and camping by the water. If you plan to rent, check availability in advance.

The forests around Malk Göhren are ideal for walks and exploring nature. The natural surroundings of the Neu Göhren Camping marina are also well suited to walking, hiking and trips around the area. If you prefer exploring on land rather than on the water, you will find opportunities for walks; the area around the marina is another option for hikes and excursions.
