If you would like to base your travel plans on architectural history or nature, Kuhlen-Wendorf offers several points of interest: churches and manor houses on the one hand, and Lake Mickow and the Warnow on the other. The historic buildings differ considerably in their architectural styles and dates. Village churches with different architectural styles
MĂĽsselmow village church dates from the late 15th century and is a Gothic brick building. Its architectural features include brick exterior walls and a foundation beneath the tower built of fieldstones; the tower itself is timber-framed. There are also fragments of 18th-century wall paintings. Different materials and historic design elements thus come together in one building.
Holzendorf church is also a brick building, but dates back to the 14th century. A lime tree with a circumference of 7.5 metres stands opposite it. The rectory belonging to the church is another dated building: it was built in 1779. Zaschendorf showcases a different building style: its village church is a timber-framed church from the 17th century. Those interested in churches can therefore explore buildings from different centuries, constructed in brick or timber framing.
Manor houses between history and the present
The manor houses add their own historical character. Tessin Manor dates from the 18th century. Nutteln Manor is a single-storey brick building with small towers, dating from the late 19th century, and is situated on Lake Mickow. The history of Zaschendorf Manor stretches from its construction around 1820, through a period as a ruin, to the present day: it has been partially rebuilt and is inhabited. The house stands on elevated ground and is surrounded by a park.

Lake Mickow and the Warnow
Lake Mickow is part of the Warnow Lakes Nature Reserve. The Warnow is also of interest to nature enthusiasts, with a precisely defined stretch: it runs from the rock ramp at Zaschendorf-MĂĽsselmow to about 350 metres before the river flows into Lake Mickow, and is 2.3 kilometres long. To protect the freshwater pearl mussel, wading while fishing is prohibited along this stretch all year round. Anyone exploring the Warnow should take this restriction into account when choosing activities.
Kuhlen-Wendorf is thus defined by both historic buildings and a specific stretch of water, as well as the protected area around Lake Mickow. When choosing your accommodation, you can decide whether churches and manor houses or nature around the Warnow and Lake Mickow are your main priority.
