Hohen Pritz is situated in a hilly lake landscape south of Sternberg. The municipality belongs to the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is administered by the Sternberger Seenlandschaft administrative district.
Landscape
Kukuk and Klein Pritz are located within the municipality on Lake Klein Pritz. The lake is connected to the Mildenitz by the Schlower Bach. The hills of Flöhberg, Tümpkenberg, Voßbarg, and Windmühlenberg are located in the vicinity of Hohen Pritz. The eastern part of the municipality is forested and particularly rich in woodland; the Kukuksbuchen forest lies south of Kukuk.
Culture and History
Hohen Pritz was first documented in 1256 under the name Pritutsen, in connection with the parish of Wamckow and its daughter church in Hohen Pritz.
The Groß Raden open-air museum is located in the area surrounding Hohen Pritz. In the wider regional area are Bützow Castle, a castle, and Güstrow Palace, a palace. The Schwerin-Zippendorf television tower, a viewpoint, is also located in this wider regional area.
