Ribnitz-Damgarten: Hotels and Accommodations

Ribnitz-Damgarten lies between the Hanseatic cities of Rostock and Stralsund on the southern shore of a chain of lagoons connected to the Baltic Sea.

Landscape

The city and its rural districts are connected to the protected landscapes of the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park, the Ribnitz Great Moor, the Rostock Heath, and the Recknitz Valley. These landscapes provide a habitat for rare plants and endangered animals.

Köppen-Berg, Hasenhörn, and Auf der hohen Warthe are located near Ribnitz-Damgarten. The surrounding area also includes Glippe and Marlow Bird Park.

Culture and History

The two parts of Ribnitz and Damgarten are separated by the Recknitz. Historically, Ribnitz was connected to Mecklenburg, while Damgarten was connected to Pomerania.

Ribnitz-Damgarten has a long tradition of amber processing. The locally developed Fischland jewelry combines silver with amber and dates back to 1932.

The village church of Blankenhagen is located in the surrounding area. Further afield in the region are Kucksdorfer Castle and Lieper Castle.

Orientation

A tourist information office is located in the Amber House at the market square in Ribnitz, directly in front of St. Mary's Church. Parking facilities and a public restroom are available nearby.

Ribnitz-Damgarten is connected by bus and train. Both Ribnitz and Damgarten are located on the railway line between Rostock and Stralsund.
