Forest Landscape and Trails

The landscape around Silz includes extensive forest areas. A network of cycling and hiking trails runs through the protected landscape in Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide Nature Park. This makes it possible to explore the area both by bicycle and on foot. If you enjoy spending time in the forest or want to build some exercise into your daily itinerary, this trail network is a natural starting point for planning. The estate park in Nossentin complements the natural attractions with a different setting: it surrounds the former manor house and invites visitors to relax and go for walks.

Lake Fleesensee and the Harbour

Lake Fleesensee covers 11 km². At Heidepark Silz, it offers opportunities for fishing, sailing and swimming; there are also sunbathing lawns and bathing spots directly on the lake in the municipality of Silz. You can choose between different activities on the water rather than limiting your stay to just one. The harbour at Heidepark Silz campsite has 158 berths for boats up to a maximum length of 7 m and is also available to canoeists and other waterway travellers. For those travelling by water, the specified boat size is a particularly useful guide, while the number of berths indicates the scale of the harbour.

Nossentin: Church and History

Nossentin is a district of the municipality of Silz. Its village church was built in the half-timbered style in 1830 and is a cultural heritage monument. In addition to serving as a place of worship, it is also used as an art and cinema church. Film evenings are held there regularly during the summer months. The church thus combines a historic building with cultural uses. If you are interested in architecture or culture, Nossentin offers a distinct focus alongside the trails and water activities around Silz.

Another destination connected with local history is the Yorck-Blücher Memorial at the exit from Nossentin in the direction of Waren. It commemorates the Napoleonic Wars of Liberation and the fierce fighting near Nossentin between Yorck’s jägers and Napoleon’s troops. Information panels surround the memorial. A visit can therefore be combined with learning about the historical events it commemorates. The village festival in Silz offers a different focus: it takes place every year in June and is sports-oriented.
