Grammentin village church has a bell dating from the 15th century. A report dated 26 July 2024 stated that the extensive renovation had been completed and the historic fabric preserved. The church thus brings together a historic furnishing and a more recent conservation measure, each reflecting a different period.
A mural created by Günter Horn and other artists is located at the local sawmill and is considered the largest mural in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The art courtyard in Grammentin is also associated with Horn: the painter and graphic artist, who lives in Grammentin, is considered the last student of Nagel. The mural represents a work created collectively, while the art courtyard is connected with Horn’s artistic work.
Baumkuchen and the Fairy-Tale Garden
The Komander family bakery sells its patented Baumkuchen exclusively at its bakery in Grammentin. Peter Komander created this special baked treat, which is associated with the name “Ivenacker Baumkuchen”; it was inspired by the 1,000-year-old oaks in Ivenack. The product’s story thus links Grammentin as the place of sale with Ivenack as the place of inspiration.
The Märchengarten Brasserie in Grammentin serves Italian cuisine. In the Märchengarten, visitors can stroll around the grounds with a glass of wine and enjoy the plants and diverse wildlife. The reserve also has a forest adventure trail with climbing activities, an anthill house, an exhibition with tactile and visual panels, and a dendrophone.
