Geographical Location
Kritzow is a municipality in the eastern part of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is administered by the Eldenburg Lübz office. The municipality lies south of Federal Highway 191, approximately six kilometres east of Lübz and around nine kilometres west of Plau am See.
Landscape
The Kritzower See lake lies east of Kritzow. The Blockkoppel woodland is located even farther east of the lake.
Wohrnsberg and Fuchsberg are located in the immediate vicinity of Kritzow. The surrounding area of Kritzow includes the collegiate church, Güldenberg and Pappelberg.
History and Culture
Kritzow was mentioned in 1300 under the name Critsow in connection with a fief held by the Redickesdorf family. Meyenburg Castle, Burgwall and Ringwall are located in the wider regional area around Kritzow.
