Geographical Location
Alt Zachun is a municipality in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The municipality is located approximately 13 kilometers south of Schwerin. The wider regional area includes Pingelhof, Schwaneninsel, and Kaninchenwerder.
Transport Links
Zachun railway station is located just outside Alt Zachun to the west, on the Hagenow Land–Schwerin railway line. The B321 runs approximately 3.5 kilometers west of the town, while the A24 is approximately 2.5 kilometers to the south. Alt Zachun is located approximately 3.5 kilometers east of Federal Highway 321 and 2.5 kilometers north of the A24.
History
Historically, Alt Zachun was part of the Hagenow Domanialamt in Mecklenburg-Schwerin until 1921. The municipality subsequently belonged to various Hagenow administrative units in succession.
