Buildings and local history
One notable historical detail is the fragment of a vaulted cellar at Altonaer Straße 2. It is a remnant of the former monastery complex and is listed in the monument register of the Ludwigslust district. The building at this address is also listed. The railway station building at Bahnhofstraße 24, with its paved forecourt, is likewise listed in the monument register of the Ludwigslust district. Offerings at the marina and around town
A newly built round-log café is located at the marina. It serves coffee, homemade tarts and cakes, as well as ice cream and drinks every day. This adds a dining option to Eldena’s water-related attractions. When planning your trip, you can decide whether you are mainly interested in boats and the waterway, cycling, or taking a break with coffee and cake.
Another kind of offering can be found at the Alte Molkerei. Its selection of small items and larger pieces of jewellery changes weekly. It also offers household goods, tools, garden accessories and clothing. This changing selection is distinct from the town’s enduring features, such as the waterway, lock and listed buildings.
