Nature and bodies of water

Near Kreien lies Dorfsee, also known as Kreiener See or Kreier See. The lake covers approximately 11 hectares and has a maximum extent of 700 by 240 metres. There is a bathing area on its eastern shore. Dorfsee is almost completely surrounded by a belt of deciduous forest, followed by meadowland. To the west, it drains through a ditch into an old arm of the Elde.

Landscape

The area around Kreien encompasses the lowlands east of the Müritz-Elde Waterway and north of the Gehlsbach. The Gehlsbach valley is protected; wooded areas can be found at Wilsener Tannen, Kreiener Tannen and Kreiener Holz.

Pappelberg, Vogelberg and Kasteinberg are located in the vicinity of Kreien.

Geographical location

Kreien is located in the eastern part of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, approximately six kilometres south of Lübz.

Burgwall is located in the surrounding area of Kreien. Schloss Meyenburg, Ringwall, Schwedenschanze and Elefantenhof Platschow are located in the wider regional area.
