Craftsmanship and history
Another local highlight is the goat cheese made by GĂĽlzer GeiĂźen. The cheese is handcrafted using traditional methods and made exclusively from the milk of their own goats. It is sold exclusively at the market stall and directly from the farm. The Bandekow Chapel offers a glimpse into the past. According to Schlie, it dates from the time of the Bishop of Ratzeburg, Detlev von Parkentin (1395 to 1419). This attribution links the chapel to the period of a named bishop. It also survived the fire in which 26 village buildings burned down; only the chapel and Heinrich Ritzke’s home remained.
