Hiking Trails and Trailheads

The network of hiking trails begins just outside Järnforsen. A fitness loop and cross-country ski trails also start at the trailhead. This means several forms of activity are available side by side: hiking, the fitness loop and cross-country skiing. You can choose among them according to which activity you would like to include in your plans; their shared starting point is a practical reference for making your choice.

At the trailhead for Stora Järnforsenleden, there is a barbecue area, parking and a toilet. Along the route, there are shelters where you can rest or, if you wish, stay overnight. This distinguishes the facilities at the start from the options along the way: the facilities mentioned are at the trailhead, while the shelters are along the route.

Forest Path, Local Tradition and Geology

Stenleden follows a forest path through the heart of the Småland forest and leads to a point of interest called Domarringen. According to local tradition, Domarringen was once used as a courthouse. The route thus combines a distinct character with a place whose former function is part of local tradition. Klotbergart rock outcrops are found at Slättemossa, south of Järnforsen. They are considered to be the only identified occurrence of Klotbergart in exposed bedrock in Sweden. This geological feature offers a distinct connection with nature alongside the hiking trails and swimming area. For geology enthusiasts, it provides a different focus from forest trails or a visit to the water.

Swimming Area and Refreshments

Baddammen is a swimming area by a lake; swimming conditions vary by season. So if swimming is important to your trip, take the timing of your visit into account when planning. The time of year is especially relevant if you want to plan a day of swimming in advance.

Kafé Tre Systrar is a country garden café serving homemade bread and pastries. Its offerings also include seasonal light meals, sandwiches, coffee, tea and homemade juice. The selection therefore covers bread and pastries, light meals and sandwiches, as well as various drinks. Light meals are served seasonally, so this option depends on when you travel.

Other Places of Interest in the Village and Region

Small blue signs in Järnforsen point to a lit trail and a hiking trail. A church is located in Järeda, just outside Järnforsen. Fröreda Storegård is in Hultsfred Municipality and is one of the 137 listed historic buildings in Kalmar County.
