Discover Hjorted: lake, forest and local history
Accommodation in Hjorted
Hjorted lies on Lake Hjorten and is surrounded by hilly woodland dotted with numerous small lakes. Trails, a municipal bathing area and local history offer different focal points for planning your trip.
The lake and forest shape the area
Water and wooded heights are equally characteristic of the surroundings of Hjorted. If you want to take nature and water into account when choosing where to go, Lake Hjorten and the surrounding small lakes provide clear points of reference. The bathing area is one option locally; hiking trails and seasonal walks add opportunities for exercise and insights into local history to your experience of the landscape.
Trails for different hiking plans
The Hjorted Xrundan starts at Generationsparken, runs counterclockwise and is about 2.1 kilometres long. It follows asphalt and gravel paths. Its length, direction and surface provide practical details for planning your day. Check the route's current status before setting out.
For longer distances, there are two routes to consider. The second stage of Tjustleden runs from Getgölen in the south to Svarteström in the north, passes through Hjorted and is about 18 kilometres long. It is also possible to connect to Ankarsrumsslingan. Rundslinga Hjorted is a suggested route that partly follows this stage and then returns to Hjorted; it is 18.1 kilometres long. When choosing between them, the route format and endpoint are therefore the main considerations: the stage runs between the named endpoints, while the circular route returns to Hjorted.
Behind the school in Hjorted is a natural area with a short fitness trail. As trail conditions can change, check the latest information before your visit. In spring and autumn, Hjorteds hembygdsförening organises walks that explore different parts of the Hjorted parish and trace signs of its settlement history. These walks combine exercise with a specific theme from local history. Check the dates of individual walks in advance.
Bathing area and local information
The municipal bathing area in Hjorted has a barbecue area, changing rooms and a toilet. Both the bathing area and its listed facilities are practical points of reference for your plans. Visitors can get information about the municipality and nearby attractions at the local grocery store. The store also serves as a municipal service point, providing guidance for excursions.
Church, church village and a former museum
Hjorteds kyrka, also known as Sofia Magdalena kyrka, was built between 1775 and 1778 and consecrated in 1780. The development of a church village at the northern end of the bridge is also part of the area's history.
A report dated 19 September 2024 stated that the Moped Museum in Hjorted had closed permanently and that its entire collection had been auctioned off. Do not plan to visit the former museum.
