Stampaleden runs through the Lyckebyå Valley in Broakulla and offers a clearly defined way to explore the river landscape on foot. The trail is approximately 7 km long, starts in Broakulla and ends there as well. For your travel planning, this means you can make the route a focus in its own right while combining a hike with the historical traces along the Lyckebyån.

Hiking and River Landscape

Small waterfalls lie along the approximately 7 km-long Stampaleden. In the past, they were used for mills, forges and fulling. Along the route, you can experience the river landscape, the waterfalls and the area's industrial history together. Broakullafallet has a fall height of 4.5 m and was used by Johansfors Elverk.

Another trail connection is Kärleksvägen, a forest path between the village of Broakulla and Folkets Hus. In Broakulla, you can also go fishing in a river landscape shaped by cultural history. For other sporting interests, there is a hiking trail, a lit jogging track, a sports hall and a football pitch. On Fridhemsgatan, there is an asphalt tennis court managed by Johansfors IF.

Stampadammen Bathing Area

The Stampadammen bathing area is located on the Lyckebyån in Broakulla. Facilities include changing rooms, toilets and a shower. There are also picnic tables, a swing set and a barbecue. This means the bathing area offers both practical facilities for your stay and space for a break by the water.

Glass History in Broakulla

Broakulla is closely connected with the history of glass. Johansfors glasbruk has been operating in the village since 1891. Its building is an example of the large integrated glassworks buildings that were erected at many glassworks shortly after the Second World War. Johansfors glasbruk is also considered one of the most important industrial environments in Emmaboda Municipality.

The Johansfors Gallery is housed in a director's villa built in 1891 by the first owner of Johansfors glasbruk. The Gallery is located in Broakulla on the southern edge of Glasriket, the Kingdom of Glass. In terms of its content, it specialises in works by British and Nordic artists who work with glass. Particular emphasis is placed on engraved glass; works by the Guild of Glass Engravers are also exhibited.

Glasmåleriet i Johansfors and the Broakulla Tryckerimuseum offer further insights into the local cultural history. Glasmåleriet i Johansfors is a community-created venue where local artists, craftspeople and food producers sell their products. The Broakulla Tryckerimuseum was established in Johansfors's former power station. At the Tryckerimuseet, you can look inside through the window.

Historical Traces and Travel Planning

In the forest near Broakulladammen, visible foundation remains of the former Broakulla farm have been preserved. The path to the original Broakulla gård follows the same route as it has since at least the early 19th century. These historical connections supplement the glass history with an older trace of the area's development.

When looking for accommodation in Broakulla, you can therefore first decide which focus should define your trip: the approximately 7 km-long Stampaleden, the river landscape with the Stampadammen bathing area, the glass history of Johansfors or the various sports and trail facilities.
