Harbor, Coast, and Trails

Byxelkrok combines maritime history with a coast where the harbor, rocky cliffs, and trails reveal different sides of the town. The harbor area has been an important hub since the end of the 19th century and played a central role in Byxelkrok's development. The present-day harbor was completed in 1933. The harbor area had therefore already shaped the town before the present-day harbor was completed. The harbor has shops and restaurants as well as bathing jetties. Excursion boats to the island of Blå Jungfrun also depart from here.

Ölandsfärjan connects the harbor of Byxelkrok across the strait with Oskarshamn and back. The two water connections therefore differ in their destinations: the excursion boats go to the island of Blå Jungfrun, while the ferry service goes to Oskarshamn and back. The harbor combines these services with amenities directly by the water while remaining a historic point of reference for the town.

Coastal Rocks and Two Different Routes

North and south of Byxelkrok, distinctive flat rocky cliffs line the coast. You can jump from the rocks into deep water and swim in the natural pools. The bathing jetties are located in the harbor, while the natural pools are found by the rocky cliffs. The 15-kilometer-long Neptunileden coastal trail runs through Byxelkrok. Hagskogsvägen leads south from Byxelkrok along the coast. The two trails therefore differ in their routes: Neptunileden runs through the town, while Hagskogsvägen continues from there southward along the coast.

Maritime History and Places to Meet

Skilled boatbuilding developed in Byxelkrok and along the coast of Böda. The maritime character of the coast therefore extends beyond the harbor into the area's craft history. Höga flisa, in the vicinity of Byxelkrok, is another historical point of reference. The stone is 1.7 meters high and stands upright. According to tradition, the site served as a Christian place of prayer for Byxelkrok's fishing community.

S:t Olofs kapell is a meeting place in Byxelkrok. S:t Olofs kapell has a church room, an assembly hall, and a club room. The premises can be used for services, weddings, christenings, memorial services, club meetings, conferences, courses, and information events.

If you would like to add a sporting activity, Byxelkrok Padel is located in Enerum next to Byxelkrok Golf Club. Free loaner rackets for Byxelkrok Padel are available at the golf club reception. In the past, bicycles could be rented at Byxelkrok harbor. Padel and bicycle rental therefore have different connections to the area: Padel is located in Enerum, while the former rental service was at Byxelkrok harbor.
