On Saaremaa’s northern coast, Triigi brings together a ferry harbour, a peninsula and natural attractions in the surrounding area. The harbour serves the TRIIGI–SÕRU ferry route; schedules may change, so check departure times before travelling. EuroVelo routes 10 and 13 also cross Saaremaa to Triigi Harbour. This means you can view the place from different perspectives: as an arrival point by the water, part of an island coastline and the destination of a longer cycling section. Which perspective matters most to your travel plans depends on your priorities.

Seaside harbour and campsite

Triigi Harbour serves the TRIIGI–SÕRU ferry route and provides services for small boats. If you are planning to take the ferry, check the schedule before travelling; times may change. Confirm the availability of boat services before you arrive. The seaside Triigi campsite is near the harbour. It has four covered fire pits and four covered bench-and-table sets, as well as two dry toilets and two firewood shelters. Facilities may change, so check the current situation before your visit. The harbour and campsite thus offer two different starting points for your stay: the harbour as a ferry and boating location, and the campsite as a place by the sea.

Peninsula and nearby natural areas

The Triigi Peninsula is a projection on Saaremaa’s northern coast that extends into the Väinameri. It is about 2 km long and 2 km wide, and lies between Parasmetsa and Triigi Bay. These approximate measurements give a tangible sense of the scale of this coastal feature; both the bay and Parasmetsa help orient visitors.

For nature enthusiasts, the area offers two different birdwatching opportunities. In the nearby Saaremaa section of the Väinamere protected area, you can observe seabirds. The nearby Pammana protected area also has coastal meadows suitable for waders. This distinction can help with planning: one area is mainly for observing seabirds, while the other has coastal meadows suited to waders.

Forest bathing, arboretum and cycling route

Männisalu Mahetalu in Triigi offers forest bathing. If you plan to take part, confirm current availability with the provider before travelling. At the centre of the Männisalu Arboretum are places of magic associated with Estonia’s pre-Christian beliefs. Forest bathing and these places of magic appeal to different interests: nature experiences on the one hand, and a connection with older beliefs on the other.

For cyclists, the route details are particularly specific: the second section of EuroVelo routes 10 and 13 crosses Saaremaa from Orissaare to Triigi Harbour and is 336 km long. Triigi is the named endpoint of this section. The distance places the town within a larger island route, while the harbour and peninsula offer closer points of reference in the coastal landscape.

Manor history and former cultural venues

Triigi Manor developed in the 16th century from a former inn site. A description dated 16 June 2017 refers to Triigi Filharmoonia as an experimental performance venue in Triigi Harbour and Agar-Agar as a cultural café. Triigi’s history as a manor and a later chapter in its harbour culture thus sit side by side.
