Ringe Between Lake, Forest and History

Ringe Sø is a natural area with beautiful views, located within the town. The area around Ringe Sø is Ringe’s largest green area and is home to a diverse bird population. Its location within the town connects the lake with the townscape of Ringe. Nature observation is given a clear focus by the diverse birdlife, while the views complement the overall impression of the landscape. Ringe Sø is therefore both a natural area and part of Ringe’s townscape. For nature observation, the lake can be included as a separate stop during the day within the town area.

Sites of Cultural History in the Townscape

The building housing the Ringe Museum was built as a school in 1704. Ringe Museum is a regional museum of cultural history, established in Ringe’s first school, the Organistskolen. The museum site combines the building’s former use as a school with the regional history of Ringe. The year of construction, 1704, stands alongside the building’s use as a regional museum. The history of Ringe’s first school and the regional museum function come together in the same building. The building is thus associated both with the year 1704 and with Ringe’s first school.

Ringe Church is a traditional Danish, whitewashed church dating from around 1200. The tower is located on the south side of the chancel. It has four gables in the style of Christian IV, dating from 1614. This building therefore brings together a medieval period of origin and a design element from 1614. The different dates place the church within several historical layers, from its medieval origins to its later design elements. The church thus connects two historically distinct points of reference.

Forest Trails for Active Days

Ringe Skov and Espe Skov have trails for walking, cycling and horseback riding. The two forests have been planted since 1999. The Ringe-Espe Trail runs through Ringe and Espe Skov. The trail can be extended with a circuit around Ringe Sø. Horseback riding on the Ringe-Espe Trail is free of charge. The trails are spread across two forest areas, while the trail itself connects the town and the forest. The circuit adds the lake as an additional loop. The choice between walking, cycling and horseback riding remains focused on these specific trails. For a day plan with changing activities, the trail can serve as a shared basis without extending the free horseback-riding option to other trails. The town of Ringe is part of the route, not merely its starting point.

The Nature Trail and Getting Around Ringe

The Ringe-Korinth Nature Trail begins at Ringe Station. In Ringe, the Ringe-Korinth Nature Trail can be accessed via Ørbækvej and Svendborgvej. The two roads supplement the starting point at the station with additional access routes within Ringe.

Ringe Torv with a New Playground

The new Ringe Torv was inaugurated in April 2023 with a new playground featuring playhouses and jumping equipment.
