Fjællebroen between the Archipelago Trail, harbour and film history

A section of the Archipelago Trail begins on the coast near Fjællebroen, leading via Egebjerg Bakker to Svendborg. This connection to the trail makes the coast a concrete starting point for hikes and links the town to a longer route through the landscape.

On foot and by bicycle

Stage 4 of the Archipelago Trail is a 13 km route from the north to Fjællebroen. Stage 5 of the Archipelago Trail is an 11 km route from Fjællebroen to Vester Skerninge. When comparing the two stages, their different lengths and directions provide clear guidance for planning your own journey. This means the route can be considered both from the north and from Fjællebroen. For planning a day's excursion, a single section can therefore be chosen: either towards Fjællebroen or from there onwards to Vester Skerninge.

For cyclists, the Østersøruten leads through particularly beautiful agricultural land towards Fjællebroen. In addition to the coastal route, the open agricultural landscape is therefore also part of the character of the town. The agricultural landscape creates a different impression from the coastal course of the Archipelago Trail. Cyclists thus experience a change between open farmland and the coastal trail sections around Fjællebroen. The different routes draw attention to different aspects of Fjællebroen without requiring any particular type of excursion.

Harbour, waterway and fjord

Fjællebroen Harbour has space for around 200 boats. The harbour can be accessed by vessels approximately 25 metres long, 5 metres wide and with a draught of up to 2.3 metres. The approach to Fjællebroen Harbour runs through the narrow, well-marked navigable channel of the Nakkebølle Fjord; the water depth is approximately 2.5 metres. From the route, the fjord can be seen in the direction of Fjællebroen Harbour. The coastal path, waterway and harbour are therefore directly connected in view. Maritime planning must consequently take into account both the harbour's capacity and the dimensions and depth of the approach.

Film history and historic sites

Films such as “The Green Butchers” and “Simon and Malou” were made at the film studios near Fjællebroen. The film studios near Fjællebroen are located in a disused machinery factory between an inn and an idyllic marina. Film history, the factory building and the harbour setting come together here in a clearly defined location.

Brahetrolleborg is a castle in the area around Fjællebroen. In the vicinity of Fjællebroen, Nakkebølle Sanatorium served as a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients from its construction in 1908 until the end of the 1960s. Both places add architectural and historical points of reference to the routes and harbour landscape, which can be taken into account when finding your way around Fjællebroen.
