Tulseboda Brunn was once a popular spa resort and played an important role in the development of the Kyrkhult region. The restaurant building, constructed in 1894, is now Tulseboda Kulturhus, a cultural centre with a circus school, exhibitions and an event venue. The events programme may change, so check the latest dates before visiting.

Cultural history at Tulseboda Brunn

Tulseboda Brunnspark is a historic visitor destination in Kyrkhult. Gravel paths and densely leafed trees surround the main building. The Södersjön bathing area is in Kyrkhult, right next to Tulseboda Brunn and Brunnspark. The park and bathing area are therefore close to each other, while offering different reasons to visit.

Families can get active at Cirkusparken, where activities include juggling, acrobatics, tightrope walking, trapeze acts and climbing in aerial silks. As the availability of individual activities may change, it is worth checking the current programme before making plans.

Church, museum and distinctive buildings

Kyrkhults kyrka was consecrated in 1865 and is a large, three-aisled stone church. The altarpiece was painted on site in 1867 by Bengt Nordenberg, an artist from the region. The church cemetery features, among other things, Carl Eldh’s sculptures “Ansgar välsignar Norden” and “Efter dagsverket”.

Kyrkhults Hembygdsmuseum is housed in the former doctor’s villa, an outbuilding of Tulseboda Brunn built in 1889. Fornebodastugan offers a different style of architecture: this unique raised summerhouse from the 19th century is in Kyrkhult, by Gårdssjön. Alma Gauffin built it after falling in love with Gårdssjön. Kyrkhult thus offers a glimpse of both ecclesiastical architectural history and a more unusual historic building.

Hiking trails with different features

The Fornebodaleden opened in 2021 and is 3.4 kilometres long. The trail loops around Fornebodasjön in Kyrkhult, starts in the Strandparken section of Tulseboda Brunnspark, and connects the cultural environments of Tulseboda Brunnspark and Forneboda Kulturbrunn. The lake and cultural sites together shape the route.

Kyrkhults motionsslinga is a very easy 2.5-kilometre hiking trail on the outskirts of the village. The illuminated Kyrkhults running and training trail offers a different route: it starts at Kyrkhult’s parking area, initially follows the western side of Södersjön, and passes Tulseboda Brunnspark and Kyrkhults Hembygdsmuseum. These descriptions distinguish a very easy trail on the outskirts from an illuminated running and training route with named landmarks.

For a longer hike, the fourth stage of Blekingeleden runs from Halens Camping to Tulseboda Brunnspark, where it ends in Kyrkhult. It is 20.5 kilometres long and takes 6–8 hours. Unlike the two shorter routes, this one also has a specified stage duration—a useful guide when planning your day’s hike.
