Bräkne-Hoby: Nature Trails, Park and Church History

The Bräkneån Valley shapes Bräkne-Hoby as a landscape for walks, longer hikes and relaxation. The area is designated as being of national interest and offers scenic hiking trails. River Landscape and Trails around Bräkne-Hoby

There are several clearly distinct options for different day plans. Bräkne-Hoby Byaslinga is a 3.7-kilometre village loop. It presents the village over a short distance and complements the longer trails in the valley. Those looking for a longer route can take Bräkneleden, a 70-kilometre hiking and cycling trail in the Bräkneån Valley. Individual sections of this trail can also be used. The routes therefore differ not only in length but also in their geographical focus: Byaslinga stays within the village, while Bräkneleden follows the valley.

Vildmarksleden connects Nordensköldsparken in Eringsboda with Svenmanska Park in Bräkne-Hoby. The route passes through quiet forests with lakes and along the Bräkneån Valley. It can be used for hiking, cycling or horseback riding.

Park, Garden and Historic Traces

A prominent cultural attraction is Svenmanska Park. It is considered a well-preserved example of the neoclassical park style in Sweden. In the village itself, Bräkne-Hoby Church is the focal point of the older parish centre. This ensemble includes a vicarage from the 1750s, a sexton's farm and a parish granary from the 19th century. The period represented by the ensemble thus extends from the vicarage of the 1750s to the parish granary from the 19th century. Visitors can stroll through a naturalistic garden where numerous kitchen plants, tomato cultivation, herbs, unusual plants and flax cultivation come together. The garden complements the historic sites with specific forms of cultivation and its own diversity of plants. It thus adds a distinct accent alongside the park, church and archaeological traces.
